Do Green Tea Have Caffeine? Green tea, similar to black tea, is made from the fermented leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Experts claim that green tea contains about 20-50mg of caffeine, but the average is closer to 15mg. Originally, green tea was reserved for Chinese royalty, but recently, it has become more popular in the Western world. Nowadays, green tea is available in most specialty grocery stores and major food retailers. Green tea is now commonly blended with other natural substances like, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, and lemon. In the United States, green tea is considered a superfood. In Canada, it is often found in bottled form in most grocery stores. In the United States, green tea is classified as a tea, but in China, it can be classified as both tea and medicine.

I went to the store on my break yesterday to buy some green tea. As I was paying, the cashier let me know that they have black tea as well which surprised me since green tea is my favorite. Well, I ended up trying both of them out on my break and it turns out that black tea had more caffeine than green so I switched to it.
